Learn How to Make Jewelry

If you like to make things with your hands, if you are able to manipulate little tiny things, like wire and tiny beads, and you are creative then you have the potential to become a jewelry artist.

Even if you have never made a single piece of jewelry you can become a successful jewelry artist, you just need to take some time to learn how and to practice.

Learning how to make jewelry is not hard but it does take some practice. If you can string a bead and use a pair of pliers to bend a piece of wire then you can learn how to make jewelry. An excellent source of how-to make jewelry books is the library. Also most local bead shops offer lessons on jewelry making and some even have clubs that you can join in order to get discounts at their shop.

It would be a good idea to subscribe to a jewelry making magazine. My favorites are Bead Style and Bead and Button. They always have basic jewelry making information and definitions but you can also see what is current in fashion and colors. Not to mention all the project ideas.

Once you learn the basic techniques to jewelry making I suggest you learn some advanced or unique techniques. The reason being is that your work needs to be different from the masses of people that are stringing pretty beads on a wire.
